Young wizard-in-training Harry Potter has had his hands full during his first four years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As if studying spells and pleasing professors isn't enough, Harry has heard evil voices in the walls, rescued petrified students, fended off convicts escaped from wizards' prison, and played elaborate and grueling games of Quidditch. Between school sessions, he summers with the horrendous Dursleys, who seem to want nothing more than to crush our hero's spirit. Only time will tell how Harry will manage the certain dangers and escapades in store for him over the next few years. The first four titles of J.K. Rowling's phenomenally popular series are now available--in paperback--in a handy boxed set, perfect for the legions of children whose big brothers and sisters have made off with their copies. These adventures are surely on the road to becoming classics; don't wait to collect them! You may already have these books and even the tape/CD recordings. However this set not only looks good as a set but has different cover art. It is more than just a marketing scheme as the art adds to the enjoyment of owning such a fine set.
Now down to content. This set contains the on going saga of a young lad who living the first part of his life as a second class citizen in his relatives home, discovers that he is a wizard. Along with this of course come many great adventures that include making new friends and adversaries. The fun comes from vicariously following his life and anticipating the unanticipatable. Be prepared to read non stop.
The individual books in chronological order are:
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
Each book gets progressively more intricate. Yet they must have been designed from the beginning as if you pay attention to who loans the motorcycle in the first book you will see that person in one of the following books. This shows that every6thing ties together with a generous sprinkling of clues.

This Harry Potter Book Set is very handy because you can keep all the books together. They are by far the best books I have read! Very entertaining.

Books were for my wife. She is reading these books with our grandson over the telephone. We find it a way to maintain contact with grandchildren

I wanted to have the hard copies of these books to pass on to my kids and this is an excellent collection.

I read these books when I was about nine or ten. And I was totally, utterly, and completely in love.
And then I reread them now as twelve year old, and they have degraded. The plot and the characters are ultimately lovable, though it becomes a bit too repetitive in the fifth and sixth book. But I'm actually quite proud of how the characters have developed from the first one; they are 3D, dimensional, lovable, and almost believable. (though I find Draco Malfoy is just too...cliche-bad-boy-unbelievable)
It's mostly J.K. Rowling's writing style. I like fresh, appealing descriptions, not so much the "and there was a chair in the room and a small boy and another boy and..." (Okay, I just made that sentence up. But still. I find that to sorta be her style... lists and not descriptions.)
Still, if not just for the characters - I'd read it.
